A Wrexham firm has opened a new building on the Wrexham Technology Park with the aim of creating more than 100 jobs. The site at Moneypenny House provides office services and boosts overall employment at the ten year old firm to 240 staff.

Two reports in the space of a week have issued a double whammy of news about job cuts in Wales. The Wales Audit Office said up to 21,000 public sector jobs could be lost over four years.

Under plans approved by the fire services bosses up to 36 fire fighter jobs will be lost in north Wales. Vice chairman of North Wales Fire Authority, Anglesey councillor Aled Morris Jones, said: "I support the recommendation.

The Ysgol Uwchradd Tywyn school has been hit by a teachers’ strike beginning today (Tuesday, September 6, 2011). The teaching union is starting industrial action at the Gwynedd secondary school over job cuts and changes to their contracts.

The future of some 40 workers based at a hydro-electric power station at Ewloe is in doubt. Staff at International Power’s offices will be offered the chance to relocate. The firm holds the controlling stake in First Hydro which runs the plants at Dinorwic and Ffestiniog.
