Payroll software accommodates flexitime contracts of public sector employees
As part of the coalition programme of quango reform, a Public Bodies Bill is to be introduced giving Whitehall departments the power to abolish or change the functions of bodies set up under statute. The legislation, hoped by the Government to get Royal Assent by next summer, will mean that the power is in place to axe quangos in future. "The problem that we see here is that there is a big legacy of bodies that have grown up over the years, and in many cases we do not have the power to do anything about them," a spokesman for Prime Minister David Cameron said. The number of jobs lost as a result of this week’s cull of quangos has not been confirmed.
