New premises as part of expansion plan

TC Consult, a cost consultancy and project management company, has moved into a new Cardiff office as part of its expansion plans

The company has moved its 8-person workforce into the Old Coach House at the entrance to the city’s Sophia Gardens. The new premises is a converted residential property, offering 1,500sq ft of office space, with high-speed fibre broadband and private parking. This is double the floor space at their previous home.

Co-founder Paul Tambini: "Moving to our new offices in Sophia Gardens represents an important milestone in the development of TC Consult and reflects the ambition we have for the business and the exciting opportunities we see ahead.

"We wanted a commercial space that better represented our brand and profile as one of Wales’s fastest growing cost consultancy and project management firms and the iconic Old Coach House does just that.

"In addition, located as it is so close to the city centre, on the edge of Cardiff’s leafy parkland and right by our national sports centre, makes it a coveted place to work, and our talented team are very excited by what the new location has to offer.

"We have a progressive plan for growth but that requires us to invest in the team and get the right people on board, and the new offices are part and parcel of that.

"Meanwhile, the new electric pool car, our paperless office policy and the fact that we are fuelled by renewable energy are all part of our commitment to becoming more sustainable as a business in light of the environmental challenges we are all facing.

"We are now able to offer staff a fantastic working environment, to go with the commitment we’ve always had towards investment in technology and developing our people within the business. It is an extremely exciting time for TC Consult and we’re looking forward to the next step in our journey."

Moving to new, larger offices is the perfect time to assess your time and attendance system.

Many office-based companies don’t believe that they need a structured attendance monitoring system. As we say at Time and Attendance Wales, having a time and attendance system doesn’t mean that Big Brother is looking at your every move, it just gives you the big picture!

The European Court of Justice has ruled that all companies need to measure the duration of time worked every day by their employees. We can provide multiple different language packs, to help you fulfil this requirement if you have employees over on the Continent.

You may not need to know the exact timings of your salaried staff as a boss or a manager, but HR might find a full history of their timings very important if you ask them to put a member of staff on a disciplinary for lateness. Without careful documentation, proving lateness could be difficult. Many companies still operate on a casual “Just let me know,” attitude, which make it difficult to clearly state how many absences they might have had over a certain time period without laboriously scrolling through texts or emails.

With our centralised time and attendance system, HR can see everyone’s clocking data for whom they have permission, and quickly and easily export this or format it into reports using our report wizard or advanced report creation settings.

Staff can clock in either using our physical terminals, which work with fingerprints and/or radio-frequency smartcards, or if physical terminals can’t be installed then we can offer an online/app-based clocking in service called the Self-Service Module (SSM).
