Anglesey’s tourism industry to receives serious boot

Anglesey’s tourism industry is likely to receive some valuable support via two regeneration projects that received significant funding from the Welsh government, a news report in the local media can reveal.

The projects have each received six-figure investments and should help boost tourism in the area, as well as create more jobs.

The Sail Loft scheme involves the transformation of a historic building into a café and restaurant with an exhibition area, while the Prince’s Pier refurbishment will see a former warehouse and pilot’s cottage converted into business premises for let and a display on the bridges of Anglesey.

The Welsh Government’s Môn a Menai programme has contributed £160,000 to the Sail Loft and £195,000 to Prince’s Pier.

Welsh housing and regeneration minister Carl Sargeant said: "Both these projects involve the restoration of historic buildings on the island which are part of the area’s rich heritage. Both are in locations which benefit from visitors and will make a valuable contribution to the tourism industry of the area.

"I’d like to congratulate the teams working on these projects which help raise awareness of the rich history and culture of the area."
